🚀 When a vision becomes a direction for the entire industry.
December 2021. While most of the market continued along established paths, SAIT began an ambitious project: developing a new generation of permanent probes for cathodic protection monitoring.
Thus IRON PROBE® was born, and subsequently in 2022 the patent was issued.
A choice that at the time seemed counterintuitive. Investing in research, designing a new probe architecture, studying the long-term behavior of materials, and addressing technical issues that many considered secondary required time, resources, and above all a clear vision of the future.
Today, after more than six years, we look with satisfaction at the evolution of the market. More and more operators are directing their research toward permanent probes that adopt design principles and application philosophies that SAIT had already identified and developed in 2021.
For us, this is not a surprise. It is confirmation that the direction we took back then was the right one.
But what makes us most proud is not being first. It is having continued to improve. Because true innovation is not born on the day a product is launched. It is born and grows through years of study, field testing, observation, and continuous improvement.
In recent years, IRON PROBE® has undergone constant evolution:
- Increased mass of the copper element;
- Development of Cu/CuSO4 gel technology;
- Refinement of electrolyte containment systems;
- Optimization of structural materials;
- Continuous improvement of coupon performance.
But above all, we have dedicated a significant part of our research activities to the most important and most difficult component to develop in a potential probe: the porous septum.
- Many observe the container.
- Others observe the copper.
- Someone observes the copper sulfate.
We chose to focus on the heart of the probe.
Because it is the porous septum that determines much of the probe's ability to maintain stability, reliability, and measurement quality over time. This is where the true technological challenge lies. This is where years of experience make the difference.
Today, the permanent probe market is very different from that of 2021. Interest is growing. Solutions are increasing. Companies are investing. And this can only be positive for the entire cathodic protection sector.
For SAIT, this represents something more. It confirms that innovating means having the courage to take a new path when that path has not yet been traced.
We started that journey in 2021.
And we continue to walk it every day.
